Feb 2013 - present: Senior Research Infrastructure Administrator in the Research Infrastructure team within IT Services. I provide expertise and support in High Performance Computing, GPU computing, visualization, training and sys admin for various central HPC systems including the CSF (main University HPC cluster), iCSF (interactive cluster), DPSF (high-memory cluster) and Zrek (GPU and other accelerator cluster.)
July 2009-Feb 2013: Senior Research Applications and Collaboration Officer in the Research Applications and Collaboration team (RAC) within IT Services. Recent projects included:
Adding OpenGL flow viz methods to CUDA LBM simulation code
Adding OpenCL support to ParaFEM, a scalable parallel finite element code
Chemical Engineering & Analytical Science: developing EEG simulation visualization tools (matlab)
- Materials Science: volume reconstruction and visualization software (C/C++/CUDA/OpenGL)
July 2000-2009: Lead developer of the multipipe renderer in the AVS/Express Multipipe Edition product range. A modified version of the AVS/Express OpenGL renderer has been developed that takes advantage of multi-GPU (and CPU) rendering hardware from SGI, HP, and custom render clusters. We use various rendering technologies including the SGI OpenGL Multipipe SDK (MPK) library, Mechdyne's CAVELib, HP's Paracomp library and an in-house distributed OpenGL renderer. Other activities include providing product documentation, technical support to AVS sales staff and on-site customer support.
The AVS/Express Multipipe Edition is the result of an active research project by SGI Inc., KGT Inc., Research Computing Services and Advanced Visual Systems Inc.
- Jan 2000 to June 2000: Web Support, Manchester Computing. Involved training staff and students, Apache web server management and Unix/AFS admin.
- Oct 1999 to Dec 1999: Development of AVS Express/MPE Phase I.
- Apr 1997 to Sept 1999: Researcher on the ICAM Project.
- Sept 1996 to Apr 1997: Teaching Assistant in the Department of Computer Science.
