University of Manchester Image-based Modelling Club #UoMIMC
Image-based modelling is a research method that helps scientists understand the physical behaviour of materials, structures and systems. In a nutshell, it involves creating computer models based on real geometries that are captured using any modality of imaging. This research method is used in many disciplines including engineering, materials science, earth sciences, biology, medicine and dentistry.
Over the past few years, IT Services has been running a 2-day Image-based Modelling workshop on behalf of researchers from many areas of the campus. We have also set up a LinkedIn Group to encourage people to share knowledge and ideas. This group now has around 300 members.
The aims of the club are to encourage cross-disciplinary networking, increasing University research income and therefore scientific impact in areas that use Image-based Modelling.
